Pflanzenschutzmittel – vom Winde verweht

Abstract

Pflanzenschutzmittel können während oder nach ihrer Anwendung über die Luft in weit entfernte Gebiete gelangen. Im Normalfall geht von solchen Einträgen keine direkte Gefahr für die menschliche Gesundheit oder die Natur aus. Dennoch können sie zu Problemen führen, zum Beispiel, wenn Erntegut über die Luft mit Pflanzenschutzmitteln verunreinigt wird und dadurch nur noch eingeschränkt vermarktet werden kann. Das ist besonders für die Koexistenz von Bio- und konventionellem Anbau problematisch und könnte die Ausbauziele der Bundesregierung in Bezug auf die biologische Landwirtschaft gefährden. During or after their application, plant protection products can reach distant areas via the air. Normally, such emissions do not pose a direct threat to human health or nature. Nevertheless, the airborne transport can lead to problems, for example if crops are contaminated with pesticides and can only be marketed to a limited extent. This is particularly challenging for the coexistence of organic and conventional farming and may jeopardize the German government’s goals with regard to the increasing role of organic farming.
