Veröffentlichung Impacts of climate change on tourism areas in Germany: an overview of adaptation measures recommended and thier communication(2022) Wachotsch, UlrikeEnvironment Agency is continuously monitoring and evaluating these changes on behalf of the Federal Government in order to advise it on the necessary measures. Climate change will also affect the tourism industry and travel regions in Germany. Hence, temporary or permanent restrictions on business activities may occur, endangering jobs and incomes. The changes are much more visible on the level of the travel regions than on the national level. In a research project, measures for Germany that can be taken on the regional level to counter the consequences were identified through communication with stakeholders in the tourism industry and tourism destinations. Additionally, data on climate change are made available via a climate information system. This serves to raise awareness of climate change among stakeholders. © The AuthorsVeröffentlichung Shaping sustainable digitisation(Umweltbundesamt, 2021) Arenhövel, Dorothee; Blum, Christopher; Cohors-Fresenborg, Dieter; Eick, Martina; Frien-Kossolobow, Lisa; Hagenah, Evelyn; Kiso, Claudia; Herrmann, Bianca; Koller, Matthias; Hoyer, Christian; Kohlmeyer, Regina; Köhn, Marina; Krack, Juri; Kristof, Kora; Lorenz, Andreas; Löwe, Christian; Menger, Matthias; Douglas, Martyn; Meurer, Doris; Mutert, Tina; Oehme, Ines; Schäfer, Marco; Schauser, Inke; Schlippenbach, Ulrike von; Schlippenbach, Ulrike von ; Schneider, Christian; Schultz-Krutisch, Thomas; Schweitzer, Christian; Sedello, Cornelia; Veenhoff, Sylvia; Töpfer, Christoph; Vogel, Julia; Wachotsch, Ulrike; Weiß, Ralf; Deutschland. UmweltbundesamtDigitisation is not only transforming our society it is also having an impact on the environment: On the one hand, digitisation can improve the state of the environment for example through digitally optimised production processes. On the other hand, negative environmental rebound effects can arise, like a higher demand for internet-enabled products from which an increase in usage of resources and energy during production processes results. With this impulse paper, UBA shows where digitisation can create opportunities and challenges for environmental policy. In doing so, UBA aims to help shape digitisation in line with the guiding principle of sustainability. Source: www.umweltbundesamt.de
